The Giving Circle of HOPE makes it easy to be engaged in the community!  We administer five ongoing service programs and participate in special projects. New volunteers are always welcome!

Kids’ Club

Kids' Club focuses on literacy and educational enrichment for young residents of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter in Reston. Special cultural art workshops and events are held twice a month on Wednesday evenings. If you have a special talent to share or would like to volunteer, please contact Mary Beth.

Helping Hungry Kids

We have had a very generous donation of 1,200 weekend food bags from two Girl Scout troops in North Reston. Over a few months, they organized food drives, managed a purchasing budget, and gathered to put the bags together on a Sunday afternoon in March. We're very appreciative of their support and efforts!

Thank you to students who attended the GEMS conference at Dogwood Elementary School on March 10 and brought food donations. Students at Dogwood organized and managed the food drive, which was very successful!

Our regular monthly food drives will continue throughout the rest of the year, we'll be at the Fox Mill Giant on the 3rd Saturday of each month, from 9:30 a.m. till 2:00 p.m.  If you have an hour or two to spend with us handing out fliers and collecting food donations, we'd love to see you on Saturday, May 19.

Shift times are below:

At Fox Mill Giant: 9:30am till 11:00am; 11:00am till 12:30pm; 12:30pm till 2:00pm.

At Altum for sorting: 2:45pm till about 4:00pm.

Flashes of Hope

Our chapter of Flashes of Hope (www.flashesofhope.org) organizes photo shoots for families dealing with pediatric cancer and provides them with a portfolio of beautiful portraits of their child with family members, friends, or special hospital staff members. Thanks to volunteer commercial photographers, make-up artists, and our volunteers, there is no cost to the family. For more information or to volunteer, please contact Virginia.
